ALAMOGORDO, New Mexico — The Alamogordo City Commission will hold its first regular meeting of 2026 on Tuesday, January 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Donald E. Carroll Commission Chambers at City Hall, 1376 E. Ninth Street.
The session will feature a ceremonial swearing-in of the newly elected mayor and commissioners following the recent local election, marking the official public start of their terms.
The meeting will include organizational items such as determining the commission’s seating arrangement and selecting the Mayor Pro Tempore for the coming year. Sharon McDonald, who was elected mayor, will be formally sworn in, having previously served as District 5 Commissioner—her transition to mayor created a vacancy in that district seat, which may be addressed or discussed during the meeting as an agenda item opening the application process.
The full agenda is available for public viewing on the city’s CivicClerk portal at https://alamogordonm.portal.civicclerk.com/event/3000/files/agenda/3790 which outlines the full order of business. Residents are encouraged to review it in advance for details on consent agenda items, any proposed resolutions, ordinances, or other matters to be considered.
Regular City Commission meetings occur on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m., with exceptions in November and December. Agendas are typically finalized and posted by 5:00 p.m. on the preceding Friday on the bulletin board at City Hall and online via the CivicClerk portal.
The public is invited to attend in person or view livestreams. For accessibility needs or auxiliary aids, contact the City Clerk’s Office. Stay informed via the official City of Alamogordo website at http://ci.alamogordo.nm.us, www.alamogordonmtrue.com
This meeting comes amid ongoing city priorities, including the national search for a permanent City Manager, the opening of the application process for Mrs. McDonalds replacement for District 5, and efforts to enhance transparency and community engagement under the new administration. The public is encouraged to join and participate in public comments.
