Mescalero Fire and Rescue on 06/17/2025 at 6:51 pm Tuesday issued the following statement:
7 Springs Fire Update: An evacuation order has been issued for the reservation residents living in Nogal Canyon. No other evacuations have been ordered.
There was an “Alert” issued that promted evacuations in South Tularosa Canyon and the Mescalero community, this Alert has since been corrected to state “Tribal Residents in Nogal
Canyon should evacuate”, which is correct. Only residents living on the reservation in Nogal Canyon are on an “Evacuation Order.”
The 7 Springs Fire is 350 acres in size, located south of Mescalero and north of Cloudcroft, and is 0% contained. Evacuations have been ordered for four zones to the east, south and west of the fire: MES-085-B, MES-085-C, MES-088-C, MES-088-D. They are shown on the map below.
The 7 Springs fire located is near the town of Bent, about 5 miles just West of Mescalero. The Fire is on the Mescalero Reservation. Numerous ground, air and command resources continue enroute and are addressing the situation. To date no structures have been damaged nor any individuals. This fire marks 1 year to the day the destruction from a massive fire near the area last year. The cause is under investigation.
Sunny, with a high of 93 and low of 66 degrees. Sunny for the morning, clear overnight.
Looks like her campaign will be generating a few skid marks in it's attempt to gain traction.
Another great Maryland dad.
the saddest part of this story is that we will punish the guy who was hired to do the smuggling - instead of the person(s) who PAID him to do so.
They're catching the ring leaders as well, slowly but surely.
But I'd be interested to know what industries you think might be willing to pay $15k - $20k per person for unskilled labor that they're also at risk of losing to deportation, before getting a single days work out of them?
an extremely sad situation, in which one person was scared, and the other was killed - it is very difficult to imagine reconciling those two facts.
That wasn't fear. That was an extreme over kill... it is sad. And even sadder that anyone could possibly make any excuses for a piece of filth thinking he is above the law because he wears a badge... in fact to even come to that conclusion is sickening... shame on you.
by no means do i think - nor did i say - that the deputy is, somehow, above the law. my comment was simply observing that because he could not control his emotions, an innocent human being is dead...
and that is very sad situation.
