Alamogordo, New Mexico – February 1, 2026 – The Voices of Alamogordo Community Forum is set to convene again on Tuesday, February 3, with an expanded panel featuring diverse local advocates focused on community empowerment, resource stewardship, food security, and building interdependent networks in Otero County and beyond.
This month’s session builds on the forum’s ongoing series of community dialogues, providing a platform for residents, leaders, and organizers to share insights on pressing local issues. The expanded lineup includes:
Evan Lambert from Community Power New Mexico, an organization dedicated to addressing unmet material needs across greater New Mexico through grassroots organizing, resource sharing, and collaborative efforts with local governments and communities.
Isabella Telles, an NMSU undergraduate and community advocate who founded Project RootEd. Her innovative website supports local community gardens by offering harvest tutorials, food storage tips, shared recipes, and educational resources aimed at enhancing food access, raising awareness of available resources, and promoting food education in underserved areas.
Jacob Justus, a contractor who relocated to Alamogordo in 2023 and quickly immersed himself in volunteer work. He serves on the Board of Directors for Community Power New Mexico, the Bishop’s Committee for St. John’s Episcopal Church, and has advised With Many Hands-Alamogordo. Known for his visible presence in public spaces, Justus actively advocates for a more interconnected and supportive community.
Donna Stern, Director of the Mescalero Apache Division of Resource Management and Protection and former Tribal Historic Preservation Officer. With extensive experience protecting land and water, Stern promotes locally owned energy and food systems while emphasizing community control over shared resources. Her approach is grounded in the belief that history resides in the land and its people, and that a just future requires collective responsibility and self-determination.
The forum provides an opportunity for open discussion on topics like sustainable resource management, food sovereignty, community-led initiatives, and strengthening local ties amid ongoing regional challenges. Past sessions have covered budget priorities, city projects, and future planning, fostering engagement between residents and decision-makers.
The event is open to the public, encouraging participation from Alamogordo and surrounding areas to contribute voices and ideas toward a more resilient community.
Join us Tuesday Feb 3rd at Otero Arts at 6 pm Tuesday Feb 3, 1118 Indiana & 12th Street, Alamogordo. Community Power New Mexico continues to organize similar efforts to expand resource sharing and grant-funded projects.
