That’s a great photo above and a wonderful example of community leadership in action! City Commissioner Warren Robinson (District 3, Alamogordo) rolling up his sleeves—literally getting down on the floor to scrub paint stains and dirt at the Dudley School Community Center—shows real dedication to preparing the space for Monday's MLK Day events.
Commissioner Robinson, who’s also a retired reverend and active in local civil rights efforts, is helping volunteers ready the historic Dudley School for the march and gathering. It’s inspiring to see elected officials leading by example in service and unity

For anyone in the Alamogordo area interested in joining:
• Date: Monday, January 19, 2026 (MLK Day)
• March Start: 10:00 AM from the Lowe’s Grocery Store parking lot (near 10th Street)
• Route: Down 10th Street to New York Avenue, then to 8th Street, onward to Maryland Avenue, ending at Dudley School Community Center
• Post-March Events: From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Dudley School—includes educational displays, guest speakers, proclamations, networking, and a special “March Style Luncheon” (think era-inspired sacked lunches)
• Theme: “Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way”
• Details Link: https://blackhistoryalamogordo.com/mlk-day-march-events-2026 (organized with support from the local Dr. Martin Luther King Committee and groups like Black History Alamogordo)

All ages, schools, churches, civic groups, ROTC, veterans, and faith organizations are welcome—bring family-friendly banners with Dr. King’s quotes or local values of unity.
Events like this continue the tradition of honoring Dr. King’s legacy through peaceful reflection, service, and community building in Alamogordo.

Sunny, with a high of 101 and low of 73 degrees. Sunny in the morning, clear overnight.
the smartest maintenance expenditures are spent looking to the future, not repairing the past. kudos for the forward thinking/planning, hope it bears fruit.
just another law and order political personality who believes they should be exempt for those laws...
Remember when they all ran from sniper fire. At this point, what does it matter.
Hmm. Elected city officials making comments “as a private citizen”. A trend that started with former city officials here and is reminiscent of lawsuits going on in Los Angeles right now.
While Mr. Stockwell may hit the ground running, why is the public not asking how complicit he was in the tainted hiring process? He is a past city manager; he knows about hiring protocols. Why didn't he ask the commission to be transparent?
This gets more entertaining by the day. Something about glass sunroofs and throwing stones. Lol
just another standard-issue politician, who will use every loophole, and advantage their office provides for their own interests, and grandstand against someone else doing the exact same thing - a pox on them all.
“Speaking as a private citizen”. Famous last words before someone using their position to divulge personal business. Karma is cool.
the insiders have accomplished a solid 4 seat majority - this will not be the last time they will use it.
