Feature Film "Believe" to Hold Open Casting Call in Cloudcroft, Seeking Local Talent / Alamogordo Town News

CLOUDCROFT, N.M. — Residents of Cloudcroft will have a chance to appear on the big screen this month, as the production team behind the upcoming feature film "Believe" announced an open casting call ahead of filming in the mountain village September 18 through October 6.

The casting call will take place Monday, September 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Marcia Room at The Lodge, 601 Corona Pl. No prior acting experience is required.

Filmmakers are looking to cast two speaking roles locally. The first is a woman between the ages of 30 and 50 to play what producers describe as "a bit of a Karen" — a disgruntled visitor receiving a citation from a park ranger in a scene the production calls fun, lighthearted, and comedic. The role includes two lines in one scene. The second role is for a child between 6 and 13 years old, male or female, to play the woman's equally entitled and disagreeable offspring.

In addition to the speaking parts, the production is seeking background performers of all experience levels to appear on camera alongside the film's cast. Extras are asked to plan for everyday casual wardrobe — "an average day in Cloudcroft kind of feel," according to the notice.

The production team has spent recent weeks in Cloudcroft during pre-production and expressed enthusiasm about the community. "We've met many of you recently and we couldn't be more excited and grateful about our interactions with you," organizers said in the announcement.

Those cast will receive their specific filming dates at the audition. Community members interested in participating — or who know someone who fits the roles — are encouraged to stop by The Lodge on September 15.
