Alamogordo Police Report Busy Week with Spike in Violent and Drug-Related Arrests, Nov 17 thru 23rd, 2025

ALAMOGORDO – The Alamogordo Police Department released its weekly activity log showing a sharp increase in serious felony arrests alongside a steady volume of warrant service, trespassing, and impaired-driving cases during the third week of November.

Felony-Level Violent Crimes

• One individual was arrested after a welfare check and charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder (aggravated battery on a household member) and criminal damage to property of a household member.

• Three separate domestic-violence cases resulted in arrests for battery on a household member, one of which included contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

• An 11-year-old student at an elementary school was referred to juvenile probation for battery on a school employee.

Major Drug Offenses

• A traffic stop uncovered trafficking quantities of methamphetamine along with fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

• Another motorist was booked on an out-of-county warrant for trafficking a controlled substance (no bond).

• Multiple arrests were made for possession of controlled substances, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, some in cooperation with the White Mountain Drug Task Force.

Impaired & Dangerous Driving

Officers made at least five DWI arrests during the week, several involving additional charges such as driving on a revoked license, resisting an officer, or failing to obey traffic devices.

A three-vehicle injury crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Walker Road when a westbound driver failed to yield while turning, sending one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Property Crimes & Thefts

• A Glock 23 pistol was stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight in the 200 block of Maryland Avenue; the firearm was entered into the national database.

• Warrants were served for residential burglary and shoplifting over $500.

• Multiple reports of auto burglary, breaking and entering, and shoplifting were investigated.

Trespassing & Quality-of-Life Issues

Trespassing calls remained high, with arrests and citations issued almost daily at retail stores, grocery locations, and residential properties. Additional citations were written for indecent exposure, scavenging, animals at large, and disorderly conduct.

Other Notable Incidents

• An unattended death investigation concluded the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

• A juvenile runaway (approximately 5’0”, 100 lbs, black hair, brown eyes) was entered into NCIC.

• Several fights at the high school led to juvenile referrals for public affray, battery, and possession of cannabis inside a drug-free school zone.

In total, APD made or facilitated more than 45 adult arrests and multiple juvenile referrals between November 17 and November 23. Most adults were booked into the Otero County Detention Center; several were released on their own recognizance or cited and released.
