Alamogordo, NM – As Memorial Day approaches, VFW Post 7686 is calling on the community to come together and pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
This weekend, local veterans, families, and residents will transform Monte Vista Cemetery into a sea of red, white, and blue during the annual flag placement ceremonies — a powerful tradition that ensures no fallen service member is forgotten.
Here’s how you can participate:
Saturday, May 23
• 6:00 a.m. – Flag placement on veterans’ graves at Monte Vista Cemetery (1st Street)
• A short, moving ceremony will follow the placement at 8 am
• Flag retirement ceremony with local Boy Scouts at the VFW Post (700 Hwy 70 West)
• Lunch will be provided for all volunteers and participants
The flags will remain proudly displayed through Memorial Day, creating a solemn and beautiful tribute across the cemetery.
Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day)
• 5:00 p.m. – Flag retrieval and cemetery cleanup at Monte Vista Cemetery
All are welcome — VFW members, Auxiliary, veterans, active military, families, and members of the public. No experience is necessary, just a desire to show gratitude and respect.
“These ceremonies are about more than just placing flags,” said Ryan “Check” Nowaczck, Commander of VFW Post 7686. “They’re about remembering the real cost of freedom and making sure the sacrifices of our fallen brothers and sisters are never forgotten.”
For more information or to sign up to help, contact Commander Ryan “Check” Nowaczck at 575-437-0770 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–12 p.m.).

With all this internal strife melting down the NMRP, why isn't the media doing more to cover the State Representative John-Block-Sux-Cock travesty?

having rules that are not enforced is just like not having rules at all...
respectfully, i will once again submit that the death or withdrawal of an established candidate creates a uniquely problematic crisis. the democratic party has responded to this situation in compliance with both new mexico state laws, as well as long-standing party rules
