Chapparral is getting ready to shine a whole lot brighter this holiday season. I had the privilege to speak with Ray and James about this December 6th event and I'm excited! You can hear it here: https://youtu.be/GasDAn7FH0Y
CHAPS Entertainment is rolling out the red carpet for the 2nd Annual Chaparral Christmas Glow on December 6th, an all-day festival bursting with music, culture, lights, and hometown pride. After speaking with organizers Ray and James, one thing is clear: this year's celebration is going bigger, louder, and far more magical.
The free, family-friendly event runs from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., filling eight full hours with performances and holiday fun. The festivities kick off with Danza Catequesis, followed by a high-energy concert from Conjunto Majestad de Chihuahua. Students from Chaparral schools will take the stage next, showcasing a unique blend of ballet folklórico, cheer, dance, drone presentations, and more.
As day turns to dusk, CHAPS Entertainment will lead the community in a dramatic countdown to light the Chaparral Christmas Tree, complete with dazzling special effects and photos with Santa. The night continues with performances from Sonora Cache and hometown headliners Los Aviadores de la Sierra, returning to their Chaparral roots for a festive finale.
Shoppers and families can enjoy the community's largest holiday market, featuring 30 local vendors, festive treats, snacks, drinks, and even a toy giveaway at the start of the event.
And here's a big announcement: CHAPS Entertainment is actively looking for a country band to join this year's lineup. Any interested groups are encouraged to reach out directly to CHAPS Entertainment President James at 915-873-6728.
The event is completely free to the public, so if you spot Ray trying to sell tickets — well, you'll know he's just joking around.
With music, lights, culture, and community cheer, the Chaparral Christmas Glow is shaping up to be one of the brightest celebrations in southern New Mexico. Mark your calendars, spread the word, and get ready to glow.
I have lived here for almost 9 years and have never been to the theater here. As a senior on social security, I can’t afford it. If you can, count your blessings. I make do with the limited entertainment I can get, which often amounts to creating.

government policies are not some far-away thing that plays out like a video game - elections have consequences. it's high time that voters pay attention to what their representatives actually do....not what they say. the trump regime is playing fast and loose with your lives and futures.
Social media “news” outlets are rampant in this community.
First, I can’t afford it. Second, I don’t trust any sources. Why or how can I trust a news source that recently publicized a Veteran’s day parade date wrongly? There has been no explanation. An incorrect date was published on Facebook, too.
That is too true.
this is a useful example of the concept of shared power in our elected governance; the dynamic duo, barela & marquardt, have selected their republican darling - john block. the commissioners in chaves & lincoln counties have picked their favored local folks. now the governor will winnow through the resumes
