KALHRadio.org Exclusive Interview with Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Belinda Robertson

As local Republicans in Otero County and the Republican State Party Chair Amy Barela claims the 2026 Republican Gubernatorial Candidate, Belinda Robertson is not Republican in an effort by the party to distance themselves from this Republican Party Gubernatorial candidate - the candidate speaks out.

However the New Mexico Secretary of State website has her listed for the Republican primary for Governor dispelling Mrs. Barela’s assertion as false.

NewMexicoConservativeNews.com
and KALHRadio.org introduced a story on Monday, introducing a new, nontraditional candidate for Governor; Belinda Robertson. That introduction explained that the candidate claimed to be a Republican and wants a statewide 40% increase in funding for the state's police and sheriff's departments.

AlamogordoTownNews.org Streaming Edition with Anthony Lucero hosted on KALHRadio.org hosted an exclusive interview Thursday asking the candidate questions about why she is running for governor and what she supports.

The link is below:

When one closes their eyes and attempts to listen to the interview, one questions if she is an immigrant? Mr. Lucero midway through thw interview asked that question. The candidate explained she is an American Citizen and her mother is Italian heritage her father of English heritage..

When one listens to the first 4 minutes of the interview, when candidate Robertson speaks of New Mexico needing a statewide minimum wage of $15 per hour one would think she is liberal and possibly a Democrat. When she explains the reasoning that basic food costs are high across the state and that eggs are expensive in Santa Fe and equally so in Southern and rural New Mexico, her reasoning is a slight bit more palatable to conservatives.

Conservaties and Republicans that queation Ms. Robertson political leanings should listen and dig deeper. When one listens further they discover Candidate Robertson is strong supporter of Trumps immigration policies. She vows that as Governor, she would  "support President Trumps directives on immigration and certainly cooperation with federal law enforcement," a stance completely contrary to the state of New Mexico Democratic Party Platform.

If Republicans really listened to Ms. Robertson they would hear her hatred of Governor Lujan Grisham. Republican Candidate Robertson claims that Grisham had her arrested and took her money in an effort to keep her out of the race for governor of New Mexico. AlamogordoTownNews.org has asked the Governors office for comment. If we receive one we will publish.

The candidate Robertson supports ID's for all Americans and supports Trumps presidential orders on deportation of anyone without IDs.

When Mr Lucero asked her about her racy photos on her Facebook page and rather she might alienate traditional conservative religious conservatives, she said,  "I want to change the dialogue in New Mexico. I believe in freedom of speech and expression. Sex is religion. I support all religions. I support fitness. I was 260 lbs. I lost 130 lbs. and teied to show the weight loss and that I could be sexy. "

She continued, "After having 4 kids, and at age 40 I want all women to know they can be sexy. I lost 130 pounds after a heart attack, not the best way to lose weight but it can be done and wonen can then look and feel sexy."

Self proclaimed republican gubernatorial candidate, Belinda Robertson claims her candidacy is a victory for those seeking life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Commentary

Ms. Robertson is complex in her beliefs, outspoken and obviously controversial. She is difficult to understand and needs to slow her speech and make sure there are subtitles.

Rather Republican, Democrat or Independent her party is irrelevant.

What is relevant is her beliefs, passion and commitment to serving

What is unique, is she interesting and not the same old and boring, institutionally party bred candidate.

Most Americans are tired of the old school party bred government hacks. We ask for change!

Yet, when someone, a little different steps forward, the party goes into institutional status quo protection mode. The parties want institutional party hacks to rise to government leadership.

And yet, look around the state what has the 2 party status quo gotten New Mexico to date

Open your heart, open your mind and ears, a nontraditional candidate, this one or possibly another non-traditional candidate, just may be exactly what New Mexico needs.

After looking at New Mexico election law, a person may run as a candidate for office in the primary of the party they are registered with, without first seeking that party's approval.
So Mrs. Barela is correct in stating that Ms. Robertson is not a candidate authorized by the Republican Party, even though she's running as a Republican.
If she loses the Republican nomination, she has the right to refile as an independent candidate.
Example, I could register as a Democrat and seek office as a Democrat without the Democrat Party being able to do anything about it until the primary.  Where upon I re-file as an Independent and blast the party for not including those who don't tow a strict party line.
Gotta love politics in New Mexico.
