On Thursday just after work many Alamogordo citizens were greeted to a microburst weather event which caused havac to the local community. The microburst burst began at approximately 6:38 and ended at 6:50.
A microburst is a localized, intense downburst of air, usually associated with thunderstorms, that can cause strong winds and wind shear, posing a significant hazard to aircraft. These events are short-lived, typically lasting only a few minutes, and can be difficult to predict.
The result of this microburst was a power outage to over 2000 businesses and homes and roof damage to S & T bait and tackle at the Granada Center resulting in a roof collapse. The Alamogordo Fire Department was rushed to the scene and had to enter the rubble and shut off the building gas to ensure no explosions. This was a dangerous task for executed quickly and successfully.
The mayor and city leaders were nearby in a public workshop at the civic center during the weather event.
Mayor Payne spoke to Alamogordo Town News concerning this event and the planned protest and can be heard via the link below...

Not related to the microburst but happened at ths same time was a fire in Alamodoso between La Luz and Tularosa adding to the pressure on first responders in the area. All individuals and animals were evacuated and safe from that incident as well.
Sunny, with a high of 93 and low of 66 degrees. Sunny for the morning, clear overnight.
Looks like her campaign will be generating a few skid marks in it's attempt to gain traction.
Another great Maryland dad.
the saddest part of this story is that we will punish the guy who was hired to do the smuggling - instead of the person(s) who PAID him to do so.
They're catching the ring leaders as well, slowly but surely.
But I'd be interested to know what industries you think might be willing to pay $15k - $20k per person for unskilled labor that they're also at risk of losing to deportation, before getting a single days work out of them?
an extremely sad situation, in which one person was scared, and the other was killed - it is very difficult to imagine reconciling those two facts.
That wasn't fear. That was an extreme over kill... it is sad. And even sadder that anyone could possibly make any excuses for a piece of filth thinking he is above the law because he wears a badge... in fact to even come to that conclusion is sickening... shame on you.
by no means do i think - nor did i say - that the deputy is, somehow, above the law. my comment was simply observing that because he could not control his emotions, an innocent human being is dead...
and that is very sad situation.
