Ty Huntington, With a Decade of Criminal History Arrested and Charged with Murder

An arrest has been made as a result of an incident from Saturday, December 14, 2024. On December 14th at approximately 6:04 pm, Officers with the Alamogordo Police Department responded to the Desert View Mobile Home Park located at 904 S. Florida Avenue in reference to a report of gun shots. Once on scene, officers located a 46-year-old male subject with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers along with AMR performed life saving measures to no avail and the male succumbed to his injuries.

The 12th Judicial District Major Crimes Unit, comprised of investigators from the Alamogordo Police Department, Otero County Sheriff’s Office, 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Ruidoso Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, was activated and assumed the investigation. Information received from the Alamogordo Police Department Patrol Division resulted with an identification of a person of interest.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit worked tirelessly through the night and following day and with the assistance of the Otero County Sheriff’s Deputies and APD Officers, secured a residence located at Vista Verde Mobile Home Park, 3050 Hwy. 54 South and the person of interest was apprehended.

As a result of the investigation, 29-year-old Ty Huntington of Alamogordo, New Mexico was arrested and charged with an open count of Murder and Tampering with evidence. Mr. Huntington was processed and booked into the Otero County Detention Center awaiting his court appearance.

Ty Huntington has a history of issues with law enforcement encounters dating back to 2014 in Alamogordo and Otero County. With his first court case of record consisting of pleas involving Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Battery, escalating to forced entry, probation violation, attempted escape from jail and now a count of murder and tampering with evidence.
