New Mexico State Police Conduct Statewide Warrant Round-Up and Police Involved Car Crash Investigation

Throughout October, the New Mexico State Police Uniform Bureau worked across the state to keep New Mexicans safe and remove wanted criminals and drugs from the streets.

This operation showcases the department's ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and reflects the dedication and commitment of NMSP officers to serving and protecting New Mexico's citizens.

The warrant round-up resulted in the following:

• 66 Total Arrest Warrants Served

• 44 Were Repeat Offenders

• 42 Felony Arrests

• 24 Misdemeanor Arrests

• 128 grams of Fentanyl Seized

• 43 grams of Cocaine Seized

The New Mexico State Police remains dedicated to the safety of our communities and will continue to conduct proactive operations throughout the year. Those with outstanding warrants are encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency or the appropriate court to inquire about the necessary steps to resolve their cases. 

Las Cruces fatal car crash on November 4, 2024, at around 6:40 p.m., New Mexico State Police responded to a 2-vehicle crash with injuries on I-25 southbound near mile post 5.

The initial investigation indicated a 2022 Hyundai SUV, driven by a 57-year-old female, was traveling northbound on I25 when she decided to turn around in the median and head southbound.

A Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Deputy (DASO) vehicle occupied by 2 deputies, was traveling southbound with emergency lights and sirens activated. For unknown reasons, the Hyundai pulled out in front of the deputy, causing the deputy to rear end the Hyundai.

Ismael Misquez, (67), a passenger in the Hyundai was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The 57-year-old female driver of the Hyundai was also transported to an area hospital where her condition is unknown.

The DASO deputies were transported to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries. Seatbelts were utilized in this crash.

This crash is being investigated by the New Mexico State Police with assistance from the New Mexico State Police Vehicular Crimes Unit.
