Alamogordo Police Logs: Domestic Violence, Stolen Vehicles and School Fights Fill Two Weeks of Reports

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — Domestic violence calls, stolen vehicles, a string of fights at local schools and an armed robbery arrest were among the incidents handled by the Alamogordo Police Department between Aug. 31 and Sept. 13, 2026, according to the department's weekly logs.

The two reports also document dozens of warrant arrests, several DWI cases, three injury crashes and three deaths officers determined to be from natural or medical causes.

Violent crimes and domestic calls

Domestic disputes made up a large share of the most serious cases over the two weeks.

On Aug. 31, a 14-year-old girl was arrested following a domestic incident at her home on two counts of aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon, along with battery and criminal damage charges. She was booked into the Otero County Detention Center pending transport to a juvenile facility.

On Sept. 4, a woman was arrested after allegedly throwing a knife at her boyfriend during an argument, cutting his leg. Two days later, another woman was arrested for aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon after a physical altercation with her boyfriend on Hawaii Avenue. Several other people were arrested, cited or summoned to court on household battery and property damage charges during the same period, and one man was cited for cruelty to children following a domestic disturbance.

The second week brought some of the most serious charges in either report. On Sept. 11, a man was arrested on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault against a household member, tampering with evidence and criminal damage to property. On Sept. 12, another man was arrested for battery against a household member — listed as his third offense — and false imprisonment.

Also during the second week, a man was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a disturbance on Sept. 8, and a second person involved in the same incident was arrested for embezzlement of a vehicle. On Sept. 13, a man turned himself in on a warrant for aggravated stalking and was additionally charged with violating a protection order. He is being held without bond.

A disturbance at Hobby Lobby on Sept. 11 ended with a man arrested for battery and improper handling of fire.

Stolen vehicles

Officers handled several vehicle theft cases. On Sept. 1, a black 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was reported stolen from the 500 block of 24th Street. Officers located it the same day, returned it to its owner and arrested the woman found in possession of it.

That same day, a felony traffic stop led to the arrest of a driver for receiving and transferring stolen vehicles and his passenger on a warrant for unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.

On Sept. 13, officers stopped a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Denver, Colorado, and arrested the driver. Officers also recovered a vehicle reported stolen through the Otero County Sheriff's Office in the 2000 block of East First Street.

Incidents at schools

Local schools saw a notable number of juvenile referrals. On Sept. 4, five girls, ages 14 and 15, were referred to juvenile probation for public affray following a fight at Alamogordo High School. Earlier in the week, two boys, ages 13 and 14, were referred for a fight at Mountain View Middle School.

Additional battery referrals were made for fights involving a 14-year-old boy at Chaparral Middle School and a 13-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl at Mountain View Middle School.

During the second week, a 12-year-old boy at Mountain View Middle School was referred for unlawfully carrying a deadly weapon on school premises, and a 13-year-old boy there was referred for cannabis in a restricted area. A 13-year-old boy at Chaparral Middle School was referred for trespassing and resisting an officer. An adult was also cited after cannabis products were found on school grounds during a compliance check.

All juveniles were released to their guardians.

Drugs and DWI

Officers assisted the White Mountain Drug Task Force on multiple arrests over the two weeks, including controlled substance cases and one arrest for possession of a firearm by a felon. Separately, a traffic stop on Sept. 12 resulted in an arrest for methamphetamine possession, and a man involved in a vehicle crash on Sept. 13 was arrested on an outstanding drug warrant.

Four people were arrested for driving while intoxicated, including one driver officers found asleep at a stoplight and another stopped after a reckless driver call.

Thefts, trespassing and nuisance calls

Property crimes reported during the period included a license plate stolen from a GMC Yukon, a bicycle and attached trailer taken from Evergreen Mobile Home Park, and two unidentified women accused of stealing several items from a storefront inside White Sands Mall. Police say suspects are being developed in the mall case. Several shoplifting citations and arrests were also recorded, including at Albertsons.

Trespassing complaints were frequent, including one Sept. 5 call that resulted in four people being cited or arrested, and an arrest at Walmart the same day. Officers also issued disorderly conduct citations following disturbances at Albertsons and Dollar Tree, and wrote four citations for people in city parks after closing hours on Sept. 11.

A noise complaint on Sept. 12 led to citations for unreasonable noise and for a minor allowing themselves to be served alcohol, and a 16-year-old girl was referred for concealing her identity. Animal control officers issued several citations, including one for animal cruelty and abandonment.

Crashes and deaths

Three crashes with injuries occurred on Sept. 11. In the first, a Toyota 4Runner pulled onto North White Sands Boulevard without yielding to a southbound motorcycle; the motorcyclist was taken to Christus Health with non-life-threatening injuries. In another, the rider of a small motorized motorcycle crashed and left the scene before later being cited and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. A third crash between a Subaru Outback and a Ford Escape resulted in a left-turn citation, and all occupants were treated and released at the scene.

Officers also responded to three unattended deaths — a 71-year-old man on Aug. 31, a 54-year-old man on Sept. 11 and an 83-year-old woman on Sept. 12. In each case, the deaths appeared to be from natural causes or medical conditions, and the Office of the Medical Investigator was notified.

In addition, a 15-year-old girl was reported missing as a runaway on Sept. 5 and entered into the national crime database.
