Local Students Sign On to Athletic Scholarships with Letters of Intent

Several local students signed letters of intent with universities around the nation based on their combined academic and athletic achievements.

A National Letter of Intent (NLI) is a legally binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and a college that commits the student-athlete to attend the school for the academic year in exchange for financial aid. The NLI also requires the student-athlete to follow all NCAA, conference, and university regulations for receiving aid. The NLI must be accompanied by a financial aid agreement that commits the institution to providing financial aid for a specific period

 Congratulations to Tularosa Softball’s RayAnn Chavez on signing her Letter of Intent to play Softball at Luna Community College in Las Vegas, New Mexico!

RayAnn lettered in Softball, Volleyball and Basketball at Tularosa! Way to go we are proud of you! 

Congratulations to Alamogordo High School Tiger Baseball’s Cash Delanda on signing his letter of intent to play Baseball at New Mexico Military Institute Bronco Baseball. In lieu of a signing ceremony, Cash wanted to write a Thank You letter to recognize the people who helped him over the years.  Congratulations to Cash and good luck at NMMI!

Everyone may remember an early and prestigious letter of intent to the SEC by Alamogordo High School Lady Tiger Fastpitch’s Sydney Lessentine on signing her National Letter of Intent to play Softball at Texas A&M Softball!  Sydney  played Softball for 5 years at AHS and helped carry her team to a state 2nd Place Championship her senior year.  She has also played Basketball during her time at AHS. Way to show Tiger Pride!

Congratulations to Tularosa Volleyball’s Aaralyn Stephens on signing her National Letter of Intent to play Volleyball at Amarillo College!  Aaralyn played volleyball at Tularosa and Alamogordo as well as basketball for Tularosa!

Congratulations to Jayden Hughes of Cloudcroft Municipal Schools on signing her National Letter of Intent to play Volleyball at Western New Mexico Athletics! Jayden has lettered in Volleyball (4 years), Basketball (3 years), Track & Field (2 years) and Powerlifting (1 year) while at Cloudcroft! Super job!

2024 Senior Maycee Griffin signed her letter of intent to Temple University's Softball Program on December 6, 2023 at. at the new Tularosa High School Softball Complex as an early commitment. Congratulations!
