Josef Toney Apprehended by Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office

Updated: 5/26/24 at 8 AM - JOSEF TONEY HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY BCSO DEPUTIES AND BOOKED AT THE METROPOLITAN DETENTION CENTER.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office urgently requests the public’s assistance in locating 19-year-old Josef Toney, who escaped from the Youth Services Center at approximately 1:30 PM on May 25, 2024.

Josef Toney was detained on multiple serious charges, including two counts of murder, armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, abandonment or abuse of a child, and tampering with evidence.

Members of the community are urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information related to Josef Toney's whereabouts. Please do not approach him, as he is considered dangerous. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact 911 immediately.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating this incident and working closely with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend the escapee as quickly as possible.
