Appropriations Secured by Secured by Luján and U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich Directly for New Mexico Projects

Today, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) announced that he secured $15,416,195 million for 26 projects across New Mexico in the final appropriations package covering Congressionally Directed Spending funding across three subcommittees. The projects Senator Luján secured include investments in flood and fire mitigation, health care access, small business support, and workforce development.

“I’m proud to announce this next tranche of Congressionally Directed Spending projects to address New Mexico’s needs. These investments will help our communities protect themselves from wildfires and flooding, provide resources and training for small businesses, and fund expansions to behavioral health care across the state, including those in rural and Tribal communities,” said Luján. “These projects also include critical investments to better train staff responsible for expanding broadband access, ensuring we are creating opportunities for New Mexico’s workforce and closing the digital divide.”

Luján continued, “I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to pass this legislation to keep the government open and deliver these critical investments to New Mexico.”

Financial Services and General Government:

• $1,000,000 for Albuquerque Community Foundation for the Asian American Cultural Center.

• $500,000 for the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, a Division of New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, for the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture Digitization Project.
• $116,000 for the New Mexico Museum of Space History, a Division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, for the New Mexico Museum of Space History Digitization Project.
• $200,000 for the New Mexico Minority Business Development Agency Business Center for the NM MBDA Technical Assistance Project.
• $852,000 for the County of Taos for the Rural Co-working Network.

6 projects, $2,827,195 total funds

• $300,000 for the City of Aztec for Flood Mitigation.
• $450,000 for Los Alamos County for Jemez Mountain Fire Mitigation.
• $150,000 for the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs for Bosque Redondo Memorial at Fort Sumner Historic Site Fire Mitigation.
• $250,000 for the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs for Fort Stanton Historic Site Fire Mitigation.
• $1,040,000 for the Town of Estancia for the Flood Mitigation Project.
