District Basketball Action for the Alamogordo Area, Tularosa Boys and Girls Win District 3-2A Tournament Championship

Saturday saw the district showdown for basketball in the Alamogordo area and it was a mixed bag for High School Sports fans.

Tularosa Boys and Girls Basketball Teams win District Titles.

In the District 3-2A Tournament Championship the finals came down to Tularosa Wildcats verses the  Mescalero Apache Chiefs for the boy's district title.  The Tularosa Wildcats defeated Mescalero Apache 58 to 44 in the district 3-2A Tournament Championship in what was a competitive game for each school.

Congratulations to the Wildcat Boys on winning the district regular season and tournament championships! The stats show that Zaine Hodges led the Wildcats with 31 points, Dillon Salazar had 10 and Fabian Pacheco with 8.

The Mescalero Apache Chiefs, Jason Kanseah led the Chiefs with 13 points, Angelo Rocha had 10, Landyn Hiles with 8 and Davin Davis had 7.

The Wildcat Boys finish the regular season at 22 to 4. Chiefs finish regular season at 14 to 13. 

The Tularosa girls defeated Lordsburg 53 to 32 to win the District 3-2A Tournament Championship. Congratulations to the Lady Cats on winning the district regular season and tournament championship! Aaralyn Stephens led the Lady Cats with 14 points, RayAnn Chavez had 11 and Maycee Griffin with 7. The Lady Cats finished regular season at 21 wins to 6 losses.

The highly anticipated matchup between the Organ Mountain Knights on their home court verses the Alamogordo High School Tigers was a solid game of determination by both teams but the number 1 ranked Organ Mountain prevailed in beating Alamogordo for the District Boys Championship with a scire of 84 t0 55. As was the case a majority of the season, Damiran Smith and Isiah Richards led the Tigers with 10 points each, Tre Sanders had 8. The Tige boys finish regular season at 18 wins to 10 losses

The New Mexico Athletics and Activities Association will release the State Tournament brackets via an announcement Sunday at 5 PM on www.nmact.org.
