Unconfirmed sources report and provided video of Couy Griffin being arrested Saturday in Otero County.

It’s alleged by  party to the case that the arrest is for 3 counts of harassment of a witness and 3 counts of trespassing. This is unconfirmed at this time.

Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin was sentenced prior to 14 days in jail and fined $3,000 for his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capital.

Griffin was arrested following the Jan. 6 riot and charged with two misdemeanor charges of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds and for disorderly conduct.

Judge Trevor McFadden found Griffin guilty on March 22 of trespassing on the Capitol grounds, but acquitted him of disorderly conduct. Griffin chose to have a bench trial rather than present his case to a jury.

McFadden also presided over Griffin's sentencing on the trespassing charge June 17 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

In addition to the 14 days - which Griffin had already served in 20 days of pre-trial detention - he will complete community service and undergo 1 year of supervised release.

His arrest today may be a violation of his 1 year of supervised released and could result in extradition to Washington DC and federal detainment.

Mr Griffin has has other run ins with the legal system to include removal from office as a result of his high profile antics.

The case that led to todays arrest appears to be a case of a remodel and rental turned bad according to unnamed sources.

Griffin has not been lucky with the courts until a recent jury trial in Alamogordo. In that case  Cowboys for Trump cofounder Couy Griffin was found not guilty  of a misdemeanor charge of failing to register a political committee at a trial in southern New Mexico.

The verdict from a 12-member jury capped a two-day trial in Alamogordo, the community where Griffin served as an Otero County commissioner until he was banished from office last year for his role in the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

This arrest is an evolving story and KALHRadio.org and AlamogordoTownNews.com will break more details as they evolve.
