Alamogordo, NM – Step into the shadows of Alamogordo’s storied past with a free walking tour blending spine-tingling ghost stories, rich local history, and vibrant art on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

The popular New York Avenue Ghost, Art & History Tour, hosted by 2nd Life Media, Alamogordo Town News, and KALH Radio, offers residents and visitors an immersive experience through the city’s historic downtown. Meet at Studio Q, 1209 New York Avenue, for this engaging event.

New York Avenue, lined with early 20th-century buildings from Alamogordo’s railroad boom era, has long been known as a hotspot for paranormal activity. The tour weaves together tales of Wild West outlaws, former saloons and brothels, fraternal lodge parties with ghostly dancers, and personal encounters reported by local business owners.

Highlights often include stories from Victoria Alamogordo and other partner businesses, such as the mischievous spirit of a rustler at one shop and unexplained phenomena documented by paranormal investigators in the area. Participants explore architectural heritage, cultural stories, and the community’s resilient spirit across a 4-5 block radius. The tour typically lasts 3 to 4 hours and provides a unique blend of history, art, and the supernatural.

This month’s tour is being offered free of charge to the public. Space is limited, so advance reservations are required. To RSVP, call or text 575-520-2785 or email ChrisEdwards@KALHRadio.org.

“New York Avenue is the heart of downtown Alamogordo, full of living history and stories that connect us to our past,” said local historian and host Chris Edwards. “Whether you’re a believer in the paranormal or just love a great walking history lesson, this tour brings Alamogordo’s unique character to life.”

The event supports local businesses and promotes downtown revitalization while celebrating the area’s colorful heritage. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and participants should prepare for outdoor conditions.
