Norman Lane, 93, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Born and raised in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, he later made Alamogordo his home for 68 years, eventually moving to Las Cruces, NM for health care.
Norman proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, he built a successful career as a businessman and land developer. His ventures included Lane Plumbing Co., inc. in 1962, Lane Good Housekeeping Store, Desert Hills Subdivision and many others. He gave generously of his time to the community through his involvement with the Noon Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge, and the Elks Lodge. He was also a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Norman is survived by his three children, Gary Lane (Wanda), Cheri Rabon (Randy), Debbie Moore; his seven grandchildren, Kayla Lane, Norman Jaret Lane (Katie), Kelsey Joy Lane, Kristy Alsleben (Matt), Chad Rabon (Paige), Cody Lane Craig (Nikki), Abe Moore (Juliett), Josh Moore (Christine); his 14 great grandchildren.
Family was at the heart of Norman's life. He was preceded in death by Joy, the love of his life. Together, they shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Les and Jennie Lane; his brothers, Rex "Buster" Lane, Gene Lane, Dutch Lane; his son-in-law, Doug Moore; his grandson, Eli Moore.
He leaves behind many special friends including his dear friend, Yvonne Brown, as well as countless lives he touched over the years.
Those who knew Norman will remember his strong work ethic, outgoing spirit, and love of life. He never met a stranger and enjoyed connecting with people wherever he went. He loved classic cars, traveling in his RV, watching sports, and spending many years making memories at Elephant Butte lake.
More than anything, Norman's greatest legacy was his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. He often told anyone who would listen how blessed he was and how grateful he felt to have lived 93 full and meaningful years.
A celebration of Norman's life will be held at a later date.
