In Memory of Paul M. Dygert

Paul M. Dygert, a long-time Alamogordo resident, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces from complications following bypass surgery. He was 68 years old.

Paul was born February 15, 1958, in Clarkston, WA to Samuel C Dygert NS Phyllis A Yates Dygert, being the third of four children. As a child, Paul was encouraged to memorize entire bible chapters, which aided him greatly throughout his life. He attended schools in Clarkston, Lewiston, Genesee, and Pasco, graduating from Charles Frances Adams High School at Clarkston, WA in 1977. While in high school, Paul took flying lessons, even flying solo, which is pretty good for a guy with motion sickness. Following high school graduation, Paul attended Word of Life Bible Institute at Schroon Lake, NY. While at the institute, Paul made sure of his salvation, calling on Christ and trusting in him as Lord and savior.

Paul was a diligent and conscientious worker. As a youngster, he sold seed packets door to door, mowed lawns, and performed other odd jobs. As a teenager, he worked for the Owl Drug, Potlatch Paper Mill, and at the Hanford Nuclear site. Paul returned to Word of Life Bible Institute to work, completing 18 years of faithful service from 1979-1997. He especially enjoyed prepping for Snow Camp, supervising student work teams, and overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of two wastewater treatment facilities. His life and testimony were a steadfast example of one 'Holding Forth the Word of Life'.

It was at the Bible Institute that Paul met and married Diane Louise Talbert on October 18, 1980. They were blessed with the addition of three children, Becky, Sara and David. The family moved to Alamogordo in 1997 and Paul and Diane were later divorced.

In Alamogordo, Paul continued working in the wastewater field. He was a plant operator, a lab tech, a maintenance operator, and was currently the HAFB WWTF plant manager holding both Level II Water and Level IV Wastewater certifications. Paul's wastewater plant was organized, weed free, well maintained, and a nice place to work.

Paul met and married his sweetheart, Nancy Kay Priest Simpson, in 2005 and became a loving stepfather to Sarah and Joshua.

Paul truly had a servant's heart, enjoying fixing things for others and maintaining things at his church. He was a Sunday School Bus captain for several years, having a deep concern for the salvation of the riders and their families, and he also enjoyed teaching a youth Sunday School class.

Paul enjoyed listening to hymns, taking morning walks with his sweetie, visiting with family and friends, teasing his grandchildren to help them keep in line, and sitting on the back porch with Smokie, the only cat that ever liked him.

Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; brother, Dan; sisters, Ruth and Grace; children, Becky, Sara, and David; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren plus 1 on the way; stepchildren, Sarah and Joshua; 6 step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren plus 1 on the way; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Faith Baptist Church, located at the LaLuz turnoff across from Shady Grove RV Park.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Missions Fund at Faith Baptist Church, 203 Alamo St., Alamogordo, NM, 88310.

The family wishes to thank the medical teams and ICU nurses at Mountain View Regional Medical Center for their care. In Paul's words, 'You have all been just great".

Services will be live streamed through Faith Baptist Church Facebook.
