Dear family and friends, it deeply pains us to share this sad news. It is with love but with great sorrow to announce the passing of Otomi Martinez, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and the respected matriarch of our family. Her passing was peaceful, surrounded bedside, by her loving family.
Otomi was born on December 17,1935, in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Maria Zubiate and Antonio Estrada. She was very loving, caring, and nurturing. She was our queen, who led with graceful strength. We all looked up to her, counted on her, and sought her guidance. She wished the world for all of us, wanted us to be successful, to be healthy, but most of all, just to be happy. We understand death is part of life, it’s expected, but her transition into Heaven has left a painful hole in our hearts, a hole that will cause pain for many years to come but will ultimately become a beautiful scar to remind us how much she meant to us, how much we loved her, we will miss her.
After our father and mother embraced and became one, the emergence of a large family started, ending with a total of nine children. Yes, there were tough times, but our parents strong work ethic moved us forward, they both instilled in us. Our parents were the epitome of what parenting should be. We are truly blessed and thankful for having them before being summoned by our Great Lord above.
Mama’s enduring love for us never ever wavered, she was proud of all her offspring: her sons, Ruben and Tracy Martinez, Andy and Maxine Martinez, Raul and Rowena Martinez, Ernesto and Susana Martinez, Adrian and Cassie Martinez, Omar Martinez; her daughters, Adelina and Arturo Vega, Pearl and Tim Shepard, Patsy and Russ Shaw; numerous grand and great grandchildren. Mom was proceeded in her death by our father, Ruben Martinez Sr. and our sister, Patsy Shaw.
As you can just imagine, her loss has left us in immense pain. We will need some time to grieve our mom’s death. We’re taking solace in knowing she is no longer suffering but rather in a place of total peace. We are asking to be given a bit of time to grieve, to pray, to cry, to reflect, but also to reminisce and smile some, for all of the great memories mom leaves behind. Thank you and God Bless you all.
Services for Otomi Martinez will be celebrated on Friday, January 2, 2025, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in La Luz. Eulogy will be held at 2:30 pm with Memorial Mass celebrated at 3:00 pm with Father Martin Cornejo, Celebrant.
