Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and dear friend passed away on November 10, 2025. Oscar was born in Alpine, TX to Ysidro and Angelita Olazaba. Oscar is preceded in death by his parents; his beautiful, loving wife, Dawn Olazaba; his brother, Ruben Olazaba; great grandson, Jasper Gonzales; grandson, Izik Inman.

Oscar is survived by his children, Kathleen Olazaba (Benjamin Borunda), James L Inman, Leah Silva (Joaquin), former daughter-in-law, Melinda Mullin; his grandchildren, Vivian Daigre (Taylor), Gabriel Inman, Ivan Inman, Emily Silva-Knox (Geoffrey), Alec Silva (Eve Roundy); his great grandchildren, Luna Gonzales, Kairi Daigre, Freya Inman, Ares Inman. Oscar is also survived by his sisters, Jovita McCarty, Ylda Hawkins, Olga Garcia; his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, Jaime Olazaba, Carsen Olazaba, Chandler Olazaba, Mitzi Carroll, Chelsea Carroll, Carleigh Carroll, Keith McCarty, Kasey McCarty, Ben McCarty, Nick McCarty, Leilani Malacara (Marlon), Brendan Malacara, Kiana Malacara. And last, but certainly not least, Oscar is also survived by his faithful canine companion, Apollo, who misses him terribly.

Oscar was a graduate of Alamogordo High School and proudly served in the United States Army as a skilled carpenter, painter, and a mason (skills he carried over into his civilian life and career). He was always willing to show anyone who wanted to learn, the construction trades and imparted his knowledge on many young airmen while he worked at Holloman Air Force Base. Oscar was also an avid fisherman and believed even a bad day fishing was still better than a good day at work! All jests aside, Oscar was the hardest working man you probably ever met, and he could work circles around men half his age. But most of all, Oscar had a heart of gold, he loved his wife Dawn and missed her dearly. Anyone that knew Oscar knew that he truly never met a stranger. If you happened to see him (or more than likely hear him) at Alamo Grill, he’d invite you over to his table for a hot cup of coffee and good conversation.

We will miss our beloved Oscar…he was larger than life and bigger than this world could contain, but he was called home. In lieu of flowers, take someone you love to breakfast and have a hot cup of coffee in his honor.

A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held for Oscar at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 E First Street in Alamogordo, NM.
