Our beloved Herbert Wayne Altum passed away on March 15, 2025, at the age of ninety. He was born August 26, 1934, in La Luz and grew up in Alamogordo where he met Alice in high school. They were married in 1955 and lived a few years in Albuquerque before returning to Alamogordo. He was a wonderful husband to Alice and role model for his three sons.
Herb was manager of the accounting department at Raytheon for many years at the White Sands Missile Range, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Alamogordo Evening Lions, holding the offices of president and district governor.
Herb was a family man who enjoyed the great outdoors including golf, fishing, camping, water skiing, and snow skiing. He was good with his hands in improving and maintaining their home.
Herb was a living example of how to live a faithful, moral, productive, happy life.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Grace Methodist Church with a lunch reception to follow.
