On April 29th the Alamogordo Police Department released this statement regarding an investigation that began April 22, of 2025, at approximately 8:29 a.m., officers with the Alamogordo Police Department responded to 1900 Twenty-Third Street—Desert Hill Church of Christ—in reference to an embezzlement investigation.
During the course of the investigation, officers discovered that an employee had engaged in multiple acts of financial misconduct, including forging checks, misappropriating funds, and making unauthorized charges using the church’s credit card. These offenses occurred over the span of several years, totaling over $200,000.00.
As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Marybeth Reynolds of Alamogordo, New Mexico, was arrested and charged with Embezzlement (over $20,000), Forgery (over $20,000), and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card (over $20,000). Ms. Reynolds was booked into the Otero County Detention Center and is awaiting her appearance in Magistrate Court.
