It is with much regret we announce the passing of David Albert Lacey on July 8, 2024, at the age of 81. David passed of natural causes at home surrounded with love.
David was born on November 28, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio and moved with his parents and sister to Los Alamos, NM. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from UNM, served two years in the US Navy, and earned a Master of Civil Engineering from Kansas State University. David’s career began in the government highway administration, and he retired as a test track engineer at White Sands Missile Range. His many awards and accolades included Popular Mechanics Magazine featuring one of David’s missions resulting in the setting of a new land speed record. He was involved in various civic organizations, a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and was a past Exalted Ruler of the Alamogordo Elks club.
David is survived by his wife, Lynda Lacey; son, Aaron Lacey; daughter, Dana Jackson; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hermond and Catherine Lacey and his sister, Patricia Eckhardt. He will be remembered as an intelligent, benevolent, kind, and loving husband and father who valued education, loved traveling with the Los Paisanos, hunting, designing, and building.
The Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, July 26, 2024, at Fort Stanton Veterans Cemetery, 1398 State Hwy 20, Fort Stanton, NM, 88323.
Reception will follow at approximately 4:00 pm at 87 Spanish Daggers Drive, Alamogordo, NM, 88310.
