ALAMOGORDO, N.M. – An Alamogordo man faces multiple felony charges, including attempted murder and armed robbery, following a shots-fired incident on Black Street that prompted a desert search and a physical altercation during booking.
On Saturday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 8:07 a.m., officers with the Alamogordo Police Department responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Black Street after receiving reports of shots fired. According to investigators, a male suspect allegedly fired multiple rounds at another individual before fleeing on foot into a nearby desert area. The victim was not physically injured but reported fearing for his life during the encounter.
Officers secured the scene while additional personnel searched the surrounding desert terrain. The suspect was located and taken into custody without further incident at the scene.
Investigators later obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence, where evidence was seized that corroborated the ongoing assault with a deadly weapon investigation.
During processing and booking at the detention facility, the suspect became physically combative with officers, leading to an altercation that required officers to subdue him.
