ALAMOGORDO — The Alamogordo Lady Tigers came up short at home Tuesday night, falling to Silver in straight sets, 25-19, 25-17, 25-21.

Silver controlled the tempo throughout the match, holding off every Alamogordo push. The Lady Tigers battled to keep the third set close but couldn’t string together enough points down the stretch to extend the match.

The loss drops Alamogordo to 1-2 on the young season. The Lady Tigers won’t have long to regroup — they head south this weekend to compete in the Jane Leupold Sweet 16 Tournament in Las Cruces on Friday and Saturday, where they’ll face a deep field of competition.

Tularosa Earns First Victory of the Season

The Tularosa Lady Cats notched their first win of the year, sweeping Socorro in three hard-fought sets, 26-24, 25-18, 26-24.

It wasn’t easy. Two of the three sets went to extra points, with Tularosa closing out both the first and third frames 26-24. The Lady Cats showed poise in the tight moments, finding a way to finish sets that could have gone either way.

Tularosa improves to 1-4 and will look to build momentum when it hosts Mescalero Apache next Tuesday.

Lady Chiefs Still Searching for First Win

Mescalero Apache dropped a four-set decision to Alamo Navajo, falling to 0-4 on the season.

The Lady Chiefs will get a chance to break into the win column this weekend at the Gateway Christian Tournament in Roswell, which runs Friday and Saturday, before traveling to Tularosa next week.

Cloudcroft Splits at Hatch Valley Tournament

The Cloudcroft Lady Bears went 1-1 at the Hatch Valley Tournament, evening their record at 3-3.

Cloudcroft opened with a straight-set loss to Cimarron, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23, in a match that tightened with every set — the Lady Bears fell just two points short in the final frame.

They responded emphatically in their second match, dismantling Reserve in three lopsided sets, 25-11, 25-17, 25-7. The Lady Bears’ serving and net play overwhelmed Reserve from the opening whistle, including a dominant 25-7 closing set.

Cloudcroft gets a quick rematch with Reserve on Friday, this time on the road.
