Animal Village NM is pushing forward with expanded low-cost spay and neuter services for pet owners across Lincoln and Otero counties, aiming to combat pet overpopulation and help families keep their beloved animals at home.

In an exclusive interview with KALH Radio’s Anthony Lucero, Sunny Aris of Animal Village NM shared exciting details about the upcoming registration events and the organization’s broader community efforts.

Anthony Lucero (KALH): Sunny, thanks for joining us today. Tell our listeners what’s new with the spay and neuter program.

Sunny Aris (Animal Village NM): “Hi, this is Sunny Aris with Animal Village with some important and exciting news for pet guardians in Lincoln and Otero counties. We’re already moving forward with our next round of low-cost spay and neuter services and we are preparing for upcoming in-person registration events. Here’s how it works. First, we strongly encourage you to pre-qualify online at animalvillagenm.com. Then, you’ll come to one of our registration events to complete the process.”

The next registration event in Lincoln County is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, at the Ruidoso Community Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In Otero County, registration will take place on Monday, May 12, at White Sands Mall in Alamogordo, inside the Ashley Furniture entrance, during the same hours.

Surgery slots remain limited. Pre-qualified pets will receive confirmation of surgery dates within two days of the registration events. Attendees can also pick up free swag bags filled with pet supplies while supplies last.

Lucero: What else is Animal Village doing to support the community right now?

Aris: “We also want you to know that Animal Village is continuing to support our community in other ways with the help of generous partners and supporters. We’ve been stocking the Love INC Food Bank in Alamogordo at 1106 Ohio Street. Each pet food bag we provide includes information about our spay and neuter program so families know that help is available—because no one should have to choose between feeding their family and caring for their pet.”

Aris added that the organization is in the final month of its shoe drive, where donated gently used shoes help fund surgeries. Every pair contributes to preventing unwanted litters and keeping pets in loving homes.

The group is also actively seeking monthly sponsors. A $200 monthly contribution covers one full spay or neuter surgery, including vaccination and microchipping. Smaller donations are welcome and make a meaningful difference.

Lucero: Any final message for our listeners?

Aris: “Please pre-qualify today for spay or neuter surgery at animalvillagenm.com. Join us at our registration event. You can even just come by to say hi and drop off some gently used shoes. And consider being a monthly sponsor. Together, we’re preventing suffering in your community before it starts. Because they love us, prevention is our promise.”

For more information or to pre-qualify online, visit AnimalVillageNM.com. Pet owners are encouraged to act quickly as funding and surgery slots are limited.

Animal Village NM, administered locally and focused on Lincoln and Otero counties, continues its mission of providing accessible veterinary care to keep pets healthy and in their forever homes.
