Alamogordo City Commission to Meet Tuesday Evening; Public Comment Welcome

ALAMOGORDO — The Alamogordo City Commission will hold its regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Donald E. Carroll City Commission Chambers at City Hall, 1376 E. Ninth St. The public is encouraged to attend and make live comments.

Residents who wish to address the Commission during the public comment period must sign up with the City Clerk. Speakers are typically allotted three minutes, though Mayor Sharon McDonald reserves the right to adjust that time depending on the number of comments.

The evening's agenda includes a public hearing on a request by Sips on 6th, LLC, for a transfer of ownership and location of an Inter-local Dispenser liquor license, with on-premises consumption and patio service, at 523 N. White Sands Blvd.

Under new business, commissioners will take up several items, including:

• A presentation on the city's Comprehensive Plan from Community Development Director Shelley Dowhanik-Baron.

• Resolution 2026-34, which would declare properties at 1620 N. White Sands Blvd., 801 Arapaho Trl., and 1803 College Ave. no longer ruined, damaged, dilapidated, or a menace to public comfort, health, peace, or safety.

• A proposed golf course fee increase.

• Change Order #3 for pavement improvements at Fire Station #2, in the amount of $143,368.79.

• The award of two bids for on-call commercial lawn equipment repair and maintenance services — IFB 2026-005 to Gary Childress for the Parks Department and IFB 2026-006 to CT Custom Services for the golf course.

The consent agenda includes approval of the minutes from the Aug. 25 regular meeting. The Commission is also expected to recess into executive closed session to discuss limited personnel matters related to the city manager's performance review.
