Alamogordo, NM — Families across Otero County are invited to kick off the weekend with sky-high fun at the “Dream Higher” 1st Annual Kite Festival on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Turtle Healing Labyrinth Park, located at 7440 N Hwy 54/70 (just one mile north of McGinn’s PistachioLand).

Hosted by CAPPED, Inc., a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on wellness, education, and community healing, the free, all-ages event combines hands-on creativity, outdoor play, and the peaceful energy of the park’s renowned labyrinth.

Festival Highlights

10:00 a.m. – Noon: Hands-on kite-building workshops in shaded tents. The first 80 kids ages 6–12 receive free plain white kite kits, markers, and volunteer assistance to decorate and assemble their own kites. Children under 6 (and “young-at-heart” adults) can pick up free pinwheel kits (first 80 while supplies last).

Noon – 1:00 p.m.: Community lunch break with free hot dogs, chips, and water (donations appreciated), made possible by generous support from Lowe’s Grocery, Walmart Supercenter, and Southwest Sound Healing.

1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.: Kite-flying time! Bring your own kite or fly the one you built as the sky fills with color over the park.

Dragon Kite Raffle: Every participant receives one free raffle ticket. Additional tickets are just $2 for one or $1 each (family packs available). Three beautiful dragon kites will be given away — red at noon, blue at 2 p.m., and purple at 4 p.m.

Commercial kites, special-design kites, string reels, and LED light kits will also be available for purchase on-site.
