Alamogordo's Tiger tennis squads dealt Las Cruces a decisive double defeat on Tuesday, with the boys team cruising to a 7-2 victory and the girls surviving a tense 5-4 battle to secure a sweep of the district rival. Both teams will look to build on the momentum when they host Gadsden on Thursday.
The boys team was relentless from the opening match, with Tate Westover, Dallin Albiston, and Zachariah David all posting straight-set victories in singles play. Benito Tave rounded out the singles contributions with a pro-set win of his own, giving Alamogordo four wins out of four in singles. The doubles lineup proved equally dominant, with the Westover and Ryan Amberson pairing winning in straight sets alongside a Daniel Bingham and David duo who did the same. Tave and Albiston closed out doubles with a hard-fought three-set win to put the finishing touches on the Tigers' commanding 7-2 final.

The girls team needed every last point to secure their victory. Bella Romero and Cali Spencer were clinical in straight-set singles wins, while Evelyn George dug deep to earn a three-set triumph that proved pivotal in the final tally. In doubles, the pairing of Westover and B. Romero handled their match in straight sets, but it was the Shelby Romero and Spencer tandem that sealed the deal with a gutsy three-set win, giving the Tigers the 5-4 margin they needed.
With the twin victories, Alamogordo's programs have positioned themselves well heading into Thursday's home matches against Gadsden. Both squads will enjoy the home-court advantage as they look to extend their winning form.
