Alamogordo, NM — The Alamogordo Police Department responded to a busy week of incidents from April 6 to April 12, 2026, recording approximately 40 arrests and charges. Warrant-related violations topped the list, while officers also addressed impaired driving, domestic violence, theft, and public disturbances.
Summary of Arrests by Category
Warrant-Related Arrests
The majority of bookings stemmed from failure to appear in court, failure to pay fines, or failure to comply with probation and conditions of release. Officers served a total of about 12 such warrants throughout the week, including multiple failures to appear on several days and one custodial interference warrant.
Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)
Four DWI arrests occurred during the period. Some included additional charges such as reckless driving, resisting/evading/obstructing an officer, and hit-and-run elements.
Assault and Battery
Two arrests involved battery against a household member. One of those also included criminal damage to property of a household member.
Theft and Shoplifting
Two shoplifting arrests were reported, with one suspect cited while already incarcerated on other matters.
Drug-Related Offenses
Two drug-related arrests took place: one for possession of a controlled substance and another tied to a probation violation stemming from a drug task force operation.
Disorderly Conduct and Public Disturbances
Several incidents involved disorderly conduct, including cases with additional charges of resisting/evading/obstructing and criminal damage to property. One citation for disorderly conduct was also issued.
Criminal Damage to Property
Two arrests included charges for criminal damage, one tied to a household member incident and another linked to disorderly conduct.

• Two juvenile arrests for offenses including aggravated fleeing, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and DWI (both juveniles were released to guardians).
• Arrests involving criminal trespass, concealing identity, false reports, and other miscellaneous charges such as extortion, bribery/intimidation of a witness, burglary, and harassment in one complex case.
• Citations were issued for cruelty to animals, dogs/animals at large, voyeurism, and public affray.
Other Notable Incidents (No Arrests Made)
Officers investigated multiple auto burglaries, including several vehicles on Crews Avenue and six reports on Starlight Court with items taken from some vehicles. A small outbuilding fire on 5th Street was determined to be arson and turned over to fire investigators. An unattended death was reported, with the case handled by the medical investigator. Crashes, code enforcement violations, and one escape from custody at a hospital (suspect not located) were also documented.
