Tiger Tennis Splits Dual with Goddard, Hosts Alamogordo Invitational This Weekend; Wrestling Team Places 23rd at 5A State

Alamogordo High School Tennis picked up a split in Tuesday’s dual match against Goddard, then turned its focus to hosting the annual Alamogordo Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Tiger Tennis Courts.

Girls – Alamogordo 7, Goddard 2

The Tiger girls rolled to a convincing 7-2 victory.

Singles winners (all straight sets): Talee Westover, Bella Romero, Shelby Romero, Cali Spencer

Ella Gigler won her match in three sets.

Doubles winners (pro sets): Westover/B. Romero and S. Romero/Spencer

Boys – Goddard 5, Alamogordo 4

The Tiger boys battled but came up just short in a 5-4 loss.

Singles winners (straight sets): Tate Westover, Dalin Albiston

Doubles winners (pro sets): Westover/Ryan Amberson and Benito Tave/Albiston

The Tigers are coming off a strong showing at last weekend’s Albuquerque Tournament, where the girls team finished 4th and the boys team placed 5th overall.

The Alamogordo boys wrestling team finished 23rd at the NMAA 5A State Championships. Individual results:
