Albuquerque Academy dominated the meet, claiming both the boys’ and girls’ team titles in the overall classification, showcasing depth and standout individual performances. Local swimmers from Alamogordo High School represented the Tigers with determination, adding to the event’s excitement despite facing challenges in a stacked field.

The championships featured prelims on Day 1 and finals on Day 2, with events spanning freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, individual medley, relays, and diving. While the meet combined schools from various classifications, team scores were tabulated overall for larger schools (primarily 4A-5A), with A-3A schools scored separately. Highlights included several state qualifying times (SQT) met or exceeded, with notable swims in the relays and sprint events drawing cheers from the packed stands.

Alamogordo Tigers’ Local Spotlight

The Alamogordo High School Tigers sent a contingent to the state meet, competing against New Mexico’s elite and gaining valuable experience. While the team did not accumulate points in the overall standings—common in a meet where only top finishers score—their efforts reflected the program’s commitment to building competitive depth.

Girls’ 50-Yard Freestyle: Senior Rachel Carmody placed 18th with a time of 26.40 seconds, a solid performance in one of the meet’s fastest events.

Boys’ 200-Yard Freestyle Relay: The team of Braylon Malone, Chase Rose, Landon Artiaga, and Caleb Crabtree recorded a time of 1:38.86 but was disqualified due to a false start. The quartet showed promising speed that could translate to future success.

The Tigers’ participation underscores Alamogordo’s growing presence in NMAA aquatics, with community support playing a key role in developing young talent. Local fans can catch up on full meet details via the NMAA’s official results PDFs or archived streams on the NFHS Network.

As the 2026 high school sports calendar continues, Alamogordo residents are encouraged to support area athletics through upcoming track and field seasons and youth swimming programs.
