The Alamogordo Town News & KALH Radio Community Forums Salon Series continues this Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Otero Arts, offering residents another opportunity to engage directly with local leaders driving positive change in southern New Mexico.
The free monthly salon-style panel discussion kicks off at 6 p.m. at Otero Arts (1118 Indian Wells Rd., Alamogordo) and runs until approximately 7:15–7:30 p.m. The interactive format encourages audience participation, questions, and dialogue in a relaxed, community-focused setting.
This month’s featured speakers are Evan Lambert Ross of Community Power New Mexico and Jovanny Hernandez of Community Power Doña Ana. They will share insights into their organization’s mission, strategies for community building and engagement, and broader perspectives on addressing local needs.
Community Power New Mexico is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to tackling unmet material needs across greater New Mexico. The group emphasizes the power of community solidarity, particularly among working-class people, by distributing labor and resources to those who need support. Core to their philosophy is the belief that “if we have the ability to help, we are responsible for taking action.” In the Alamogordo/Otero County area, the organization operates initiatives like the Otero County Labor Hub—a community workshop providing tools, safety gear, workbenches, and expert guidance for on-site projects—and a tool lending library to make resources more accessible. Evan Lambert Ross (also known as Evan Christopher Ross Lambert) founded the group and has been active in local advocacy, including efforts around civic empowerment and community support programs.
Jovanny Hernandez represents the Doña Ana-focused efforts, extending similar mutual aid and engagement principles to the Las Cruces region and beyond.

These forums, hosted in partnership with Alamogordo Town News and KALH Radio, aim to spotlight individuals and groups making meaningful contributions to the community. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend, listen, and join the conversation.
Mark your calendars for the next session: On March 3, 2026, also at Otero Arts starting at 6 p.m., the focus shifts to mental health care. The panel will explore outreach efforts, outcomes, available services, and related topics, featuring panelists Kimmie Jordan and Lynn Kimbel.
