Alamogordo, NM – The Otero County Legislative Prayer Breakfast, a cherished tradition spanning nearly five decades, is set to return on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Alamo Senior Center in Alamogordo.
This non-partisan event offers community members a chance to gather in prayer with local legislators just days before they head to Santa Fe for the start of the 2026 New Mexico legislative session on January 20.

Tracing its roots to 1980—when it was first organized by Maude Rathgeber of the Eagle Forum—the event has grown into one of Alamogordo’s most enduring civic gatherings. Past breakfasts have featured prayers from local pastors, musical performances, and responses from state lawmakers.
