CHAPARRAL, N.M. — December 6, 2025 — The Otero County Sheriff’s Office provided enhanced patrol coverage during the annual Chaparral Christmas Glow event, ensuring a safe and festive environment for all attendees. Deputies concentrated on traffic enforcement, impaired-driving prevention, and general safety throughout the surrounding area.
Enforcement Activity
During the operation, deputies:
• Responded to a shots-fired call
• Conducted 21 traffic stops
• Issued 9 traffic citations
• Made two arrests related to impaired driving, fleeing law enforcement, and additional violations (pending further review)
Community Engagement
Earlier in the evening, two deputies proudly participated in the Village of Tularosa Christmas Light Parade, joining residents in celebration. The same deputies later supported coverage efforts in Chaparral, underscoring the Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to both community involvement and public safety across Otero County.
