Before heading to Otero Arts Open Mic at 12th and Indiana or the Flickinger Center hostes Alamogordo Music Theater presentation of Little Shop of Horrors at 1110 New York Avenue, this Friday locals are invited to a free community celebration at 1209 New York Avenue at Studio Q, featuring live music by Freddie Duran and a meet-and-greet with mayoral candidate Sharon McDonald, honoring 2nd Life Media owner Rene Sepulveda’s birthday.
Downtown Alamogordo will come alive this Friday eveningat 6 pm and beyond with music, civic engagement, and birthday cheer as 2nd Life Media hosts a free public celebration at 1209 New York Avenue from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The event honors publisher and community advocate Rene Sepulveda on his birthday and features live entertainment by acclaimed musician Freddie Duran, along with a special meet-and-greet with mayoral candidate Sharon McDonald.
The gathering offers a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere ahead of two major cultural events later that evening: the Otero Arts Open Mic Night and the Alamogordo Music Theatre’s opening performance of Little Shop of Horrors at the Flickinger Center.
Freddie Duran, known for his soulful acoustic sets and regional performances, will provide live music throughout the evening. Duran has performed across Southern New Mexico and Arizona, and recently headlined events at D.H. Lescombes Winery & Bistro in Alamogordo.
Sharon McDonald, a long serving civic leader, will be on hand to greet attendees and discuss her vision for Alamogordo’s future. Her campaign has emphasized transparency, infrastructure investment, and inclusive leadership.
The free event also celebrates Rene Sepulveda, founder of 2nd Life Media and publisher of AlamogordoTownNews.org, NewMexicoConservativeNews.com, and The 47th Voice News. Sepulveda is known for his work documenting New Mexico sports history, civic engagement, and advocacy for working-class and Hispanic communities.
