Las Cruces sweeps Alamogordo in district soccer

Las Cruces NM- Las Cruces scored four times before halftime and beat the Alamogordo boys soccer team 5-1 on Thursday night, keeping the Tigers winless in district play.

Alamogordo, on the road, fell behind in the fourth minute and never recovered. Las Cruces added goals in the 13th and 27th minutes, then a fourth before the break for a 4-0 halftime lead. A fifth came in the 43rd minute, early in the second half.

The Tigers broke through in the 70th minute, when Kyle Tamayo scored off an assist from Ari Cortez. Goalkeeper Noah Mirabal finished with seven saves.

The loss drops Alamogordo to 4-9-2 overall and 0-4 in district. It was the Tigers' second district defeat of the week, following a 6-0 loss to Mayfield.

Lady Tigers shut out, 3-0

The Alamogordo girls also fell to Las Cruces on Thursday, losing 3-0. The Lady Tigers are now 3-11-1 overall and 0-4 in district.

Volleyball: Mescalero Apache, Tularosa fall

Mescalero Apache took a set from Tucumcari but lost in four, 25-14, 25-16, 23-25, 25-14. The Lady Chiefs are 2-11.

Santa Teresa swept Tularosa 25-13, 25-12, 25-20. The Lady Cats are 3-9.
