LULAC Council 8105 will host a nonpartisan community candidate forum on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Tularosa Middle School, offering voters a chance to hear directly from candidates seeking office in the upcoming local election. The event will run from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM, with two focused segments:
1:00 PM – Board of Education Candidates
Candidates for the Tularosa Public Schools Board of Education will participate in a moderated discussion beginning at 1:00 PM, addressing issues such as curriculum priorities, student support, school safety, and district governance.
3:30 PM – Village Trustee Candidates
At 3:30 PM, candidates for Village Trustee will take the stage to discuss infrastructure, budget transparency, public safety, and community development.
Moderators and Format
The forum will be moderated by:
Claudia Powell, former president of the Otero County chapter of the League of Women Voters
Chris Edwards, journalist, author, historian, and leader of 2nd Life Media.
Audience-submitted questions will guide the conversation, and candidates will be given time for opening and closing remarks. The event is free and open to the public.
