Tularosa Candidate Forum Set for October 4: LULAC 8105 Hosts School Board and Trustee Segments

LULAC Council 8105 will host a nonpartisan community candidate forum on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Tularosa Middle School, offering voters a chance to hear directly from candidates seeking office in the upcoming local election. The event will run from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM, with two focused segments:

 1:00 PM – Board of Education Candidates

Candidates for the Tularosa Public Schools Board of Education will participate in a moderated discussion beginning at 1:00 PM, addressing issues such as curriculum priorities, student support, school safety, and district governance.

 3:30 PM – Village Trustee Candidates

At 3:30 PM, candidates for Village Trustee will take the stage to discuss infrastructure, budget transparency, public safety, and community development.

Moderators and Format

The forum will be moderated by:

Claudia Powell, former president of the Otero County chapter of the League of Women Voters

Chris Edwards, journalist, author, historian, and leader of 2nd Life Media.

Audience-submitted questions will guide the conversation, and candidates will be given time for opening and closing remarks. The event is free and open to the public.

Hosted by LULAC Council 8105, the forum continues the organization’s commitment to nonpartisan civic engagement, transparency, and voter education across Otero County. All candidates were invited regardless of party affiliation, and the event is not sponsored by any campaign.
