The Alamogordo High School soccer teams endured a challenging week in District 3-5A play, falling to two of the state’s top-ranked programs—Centennial and Organ Mountain.
Girls Soccer: Lady Tigers Shut Out in Consecutive Matches
The Lady Tigers were blanked in back-to-back district contests, starting with a 6-0 road loss to No. 4-ranked Centennial on Thursday. Centennial, a perennial powerhouse in New Mexico girls soccer, dominated possession and capitalized on scoring opportunities throughout the match.
Saturday’s home match against Organ Mountain brought similar struggles for Alamogordo, as the Lady Knights cruised to a 5-0 victory. Organ Mountain, currently ranked No. 6 in the state, showcased their depth and speed, keeping the Lady Tigers on the defensive for most of the game.
Alamogordo’s girls squad now stands at 5-6-1 overall and 0-2 in district play. They’ll look to regroup when they host Mayfield on Tuesday.
Boys Soccer: Alamogordo Falls Despite Standout Efforts
The Tigers boys team also dropped two district matches, beginning with a 7-1 defeat to Centennial on Thursday. Kyle Tamayo scored the lone goal for Alamogordo, but Centennial—ranked No. 4 in Class 5A boys soccer—proved too strong in transition and finishing.
Saturday’s match against Organ Mountain saw flashes of offensive brilliance from Alamogordo, with Ryan Amberson netting a hat trick and Diego Ochoa contributing an assist. Goalkeeper Noah Mirabal recorded an impressive 18 saves, but the Tigers ultimately fell 11-3 to the No. 5-ranked Knights.
Alamogordo’s boys team drops to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in district play. They’ll travel to Mayfield on Tuesday in search of a turnaround.
Both Alamogordo squads will need to tighten their defenses and capitalize on scoring chances as they continue district play against Mayfield, another competitive program in southern New Mexico.

The Mayor is a c-ntortionist. Capable of twisting absolutely any serious situation of honor until she miraculously becomes the victim, despite playing up the entire charade herself.

A Good man. Congrats Judge Cutts!
Dear Doctor,
Well now, there ain’t a thing on God’s green earth that hollers “I’m madder than a wet hen” louder than a woman who’s been done dirty in a little one-horse town ringed by schools that couldn’t teach a mule to plow.
My family has been fishing and hiking around Bonito lake for well over 60 years we were very saddened when It was closed after the little bear fire but very happy when it opened. It should never be closed to recreational fishing and camping.
any city/town/village not looking after their water supplies, treatment facilities and delivery systems is being administered by idiots, i.e. timberon. and another opportunity to repeat that no data centers should be considered viable in the southwest unless they give prior commitments to supply <
about as useful outcome as could be hoped for...but i still wonder about the commission meeting on the 22nd - trust but verify.
