Water rescues are underway in Lincoln County as the flood warning continues Tuesday July 8th, 2025. A flash flood warning in Ruidoso has caused significant flood waters in areas across the village. The South Fork burn scar has seen between an inch to two and half inches of rainfall. The warning is set to expire at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. The excessive rainfall is expected to impact these areas: Upper Canyon, Brady Canyon, Perk Canyon, Cedar Creek, Eagle Creek, And the Rio Ruidoso drainages.
The Ruidoso Community Center is open and available to anyone needing temporary refuge.
The Eastern New Mexico University-Ruidoso campus is also available for those needing a temporary spot amid the flooded waters. Angus Church of the Nazarene is another location for those affected.
White Mountain was closed from Hull to Mechem at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday
Sudderth was closed at Robin, Carrizo, and Hickory until water levels lower at 3:31 p.m.
Paradise Canyon was closed at 3:30 p.m.
Emergency services remain on high alert. Damage assessments will begin as the waters recede, measuring structural losses, debris damage, and road destruction.
A spokesperson for the village of Ruidoso says that there had been rescues and some were still underway as we go to print. No injuries or death had been reported as of Tuesday early evening .
