In one of the most electrifying games of the season, the Alamogordo Tigers and Clovis Wildcats traded blows in a high-scoring thriller Friday night in Clovis. Despite six touchdowns from Alamogordo—including four from senior Nate Best—the Wildcats rallied late to secure a 48–43 victory.
First Half Fireworks
Alamogordo struck first with a 10-yard touchdown run by Nate Best and a successful PAT from Moreno, taking a 7–0 lead with 8:24 left in the first quarter. Clovis responded with a 14-yard TD run by Javier Jimenez and a 2-point conversion by Ethan Gutierrez, briefly going ahead 8–7.
Best answered again with a 9-yard TD run and Moreno’s extra point, putting the Tigers up 14–8. But Clovis surged back with a 29-yard TD pass from Jimenez to Gutierrez, followed by another 2-point conversion to retake the lead, 16–14.
Alamogordo reclaimed momentum with a 25-yard TD run by Best and a successful 2-point run, going up 22–16. Yet Clovis kept pace: Jimenez added a 17-yard TD run and Payton Kerby converted the 2-point try to make it 24–22.
Just before halftime, John Royal powered in from 1 yard out and added the 2-point conversion, giving Clovis a 32–28 lead at the break.
Second Half Surge
Alamogordo opened the third quarter with a 54-yard TD run by Bryson Bloom, followed by a 2-point run from Best to take a 36–32 lead. Best then added his fourth touchdown of the night—a 1-yard plunge—with Moreno’s kick extending the lead to 43–32.
But Clovis wasn’t done. Royal scored again on a 13-yard TD run and converted the 2-point try to narrow the gap to 43–40. Moments later, Jimenez capped his stellar night with a 16-yard TD run, and Royal’s 2-point run gave Clovis the final margin: 48–43.

Season Wrap-Up:
Alamogordo finishes the regular season at 4–6 overall, 1–5 in district play. Despite the loss, the Tigers showcased explosive offense and resilience, setting the stage for postseason evaluations and future growth.
