The Mescalero Apache Tribe has issued a Community Alert: with New Fire Restrictions in Effect.
In a release the tribal leadership states, "We want to inform the public that the Mescalero Apache Tribe has implemented Stage 3: Closure- due to “extreme fire danger” in our area. This is a critical step to ensure the safety of our community and the surrounding environment."
Key Restrictions under Stage 3:
- All open burning is prohibited: This includes campfires, bonfires, and any outdoor burning activities.
- Fireworks are strictly forbidden: Please do not use any kind of fireworks.
There are a number of restrictions on business, gas powered engines and times for work by contractors. The tribe urges everyone to adhere to these restrictions to prevent wildfires and protect our community.
Your cooperation is vital during this time.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Stay safe in preventing forest fires.
