Alamogordo, NM – March 24, 2026 – Families across the Tularosa Basin are invited to soar high this spring at the “Dream Higher” 1st Annual Kite Festival, a stress-reducing, family-friendly event hosted by CAPPED, Inc., a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to wellness, education, and community healing.
The free event is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the beautiful Trinity Turtle Healing Labyrinth Park, located at 7440 N Hwy 54/70 in Alamogordo (about 1 mile north of McGinn’s PistachioLand).
Attendees can bring their own kite or get one on-site, and the same goes for food — though donations for hot dogs are always appreciated. The day promises plenty of hands-on fun and colorful skies.
Event Schedule:
• 10 a.m. – Noon: Build Kites (with markers and helpers in the kite-building tents)
• Noon – 1 p.m.: Hot Dogs (donations appreciated)
• 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.: Kites in the Air! Watch and fly colorful creations across the park
Special Features for Kids and Families:
• Free Plain White Kite “Kits” — Available to the first 80 kids ages 6–12 (while supplies last)
• Free Pinwheels — For the first 80 kids under 6, plus adults who are young at heart
• Dragon Raffle — First ticket free at registration; additional tickets just $2 for 1 or $1 each
• Red Dragon Drawing at Noon
• Blue Dragon Drawing at 2 p.m.
• Purple Dragon Drawing at 4 p.m.
• Additional commercial kites, special design kites, string reels, and LED light kits will be available for purchase
The festival is designed as a joyful, low-pressure day where families can connect, create, and enjoy the outdoors together. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The Trinity Turtle Healing Labyrinth Park itself serves as a peaceful, always-open space for reflection and wellness — making it the perfect backdrop for this uplifting event.
