Ever wonder how the city departments arrive at a budget? Ever question the city of Alamogordo's budget priorities and how the commission arrives at and approves a city budget. Put the rumors and falsehoods aside and witness the budget process for yozrself.
Those that show up understand the process. As per the rules of the Alamogordo City Charter and state open meetings act guidelines the staff, acting city manager, mayor and commissioners invite the public to come and witness the various departments present their needs for the fiscal 2026 Alamogordo City Budget. For transparency the public is invited.
As part of the City’s annual budget workshops, the city leadership is highlighting the departments that keep Alamogordo running smoothly and serve our community day in and day out.Â
Monday, May 5 at 5:30 PM – Alamogordo's citizen-facing departments will present directly to the City Commission. These departments are the heart of the city operations, and each will share what they believe is most important—from key initiatives and successes to challenges and future goals.
Departments presenting include:
Municipal Court, Planning and Zoning, Airport, Community Affairs, Library, Senior Center, Tourism, Zoo, Bonito Lake Campground, Golf Course, Parks, Recreation Center, Animal Control, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), Code Enforcement, Police Department, Fire Department, Facility Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, Streets, Convenience Center, Engineering, Landfill, Utility Maintenance, Water Production, and Water Reclamation.
On  Tuesday, May 6 at 5:30 PM – The City Commission will be presented with the Fiscal Year 2026 Overall Budget, which outlines the City’s financial plan and departmental priorities for the upcoming year—shaped to meet the needs of our residents and support continued growth.
 Wednesday, May 7 - Friday, May 9 at 5:30 PM If needed additional workshop dates have been set aside in case more time is needed for questions or further discussion.
Citizens are welcome to attend the workshops in-person at City Hall. The workshops will also be livestreamed on the City of Alamogordo's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@CityofAlamogordo/streams
