ALAMOGORDO — Patriotism will take center stage this Saturday, November 8, as Alamogordo hosts its annual Veterans Day Parade and “Sounds of Freedom” celebration, honoring all who served in the United States Armed Forces. The parade is organized by AFSA Chapter 1257 and sponsored by the George P. Isley Chapter at Holloman Air Force Base, the day’s events promise a vibrant mix of solemn tribute and spirited community engagement.
Parade to Begin at 10th Street
The Veterans Day Parade will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m., with floats and marching units assembling at Cuba Avenue and proceeding east along 10th Street to Maryland Avenue. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early and line the route with flags, signs, and cheers of appreciation.
Participants will include:
• Active-duty personnel from Holloman Air Force Base
• Alamogordo High School marching band and ROTC cadets
• Local veterans groups, civic organizations, and youth clubs
• Classic cars, patriotic floats, and honor guards

"This is a day to celebrate our veterans, but also to bring the community together,” said Mayor Elect Sharon McDonald . “We want our locals to enjoy themselves while remembering the sacrifices of those past and also celebrate those presently serving, our local families from Holloman, White Sands Missile Range, Ft Bliss and beyond that make and have made our freedoms possible."
Sounds of Freedom Festival at Alameda Park
Following the parade, the community is invited to Alameda Park from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. for the Sounds of Freedom festival, hosted by Burt Broadcasting and the City of Alamogordo.
Festival highlights include:
• Live music by DJ Rico and rock band Seven Stone
• Kids’ zone with zip lines, inflatables, obstacle courses, climbing wall, and petting zoo
• Beer garden and classic car show presented by Desert Suds Car Wash & Detail
• Food trucks and artisan vendors from across Otero County
• Free admission for all ages

Please join Otero ArtSpace for a special Veterans Day Event TUESDAY NOVEMBER 11, 2025 at 5pm 12th, and Indiana, Alamogordo.
Our all volunteer cast will give dramatic readings from the Classics, other literary works, and an original play that focus on military trauma and suicide. The presentation offers a method we can all learn to prevent suicide.
This event is free and is co-sponsored by Otero Arts Veteran Arts Showcase and Blue Sky Counseling.

Ruidoso Join in Tribute
In Ruidoso, the Veterans Day Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 11, at the Ruidoso Community Center. The flag-raising begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by a free lunch for attendees. The event is hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary, Jerome Don Klein Post 79, and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
A Day of Gratitude
From the joy of a parade to the quiet dignity of flag ceremonies, Veterans Day 2025 in Otero County, New Mexico will be a mosaic of remembrance, celebration, and community pride. As Alamogordo leads the region in honoring its heroes from Holloman, White Sands Missile Range, Ft Bliss and beyond, residents across Otero and Lincoln counties are invited to join in reflection and gratitude.
