Alamogordo Traffic Alert: Road Closure 10th Street White Sands to Delaware Friday

The City of Alamogordo has sent out an advisory on major work being done at 10th and New York as further preparations are underway by the city for removal of a traffic mast do that median work may begin next week as a part of the Great Blocks project.

The advisory reads...

"Please be advised that the intersection of E 10th Street and New York Avenue will be temporarily closed tomorrow, Friday, February 14, 2025 at 6:00 AM due to the removal of the traffic mast arm. For the duration of the removal, 10th Street will be closed at White Sands Boulevard. Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic to Delaware Avenue or Michigan Avenue. We are expected to have the intersection reopened by noon (12:00 PM) tomorrow.

Please be assured that our crews will work diligently to complete this project in order to return the smooth flow of traffic as soon as realistically possible. We ask drivers to please exercise caution when navigating this area, and we appreciate your patience and understanding."

Extensive work is underway on New York Avenue and 10th Street as the 900 Block new waterlines are connected and nearing final completion by General Hydronics Utilities. The sewerline work is continuing via AUI under the direction of GHU along with planned paving of the White Sands side of the 900 Block alley for mid next week. CrossTown Construction has removed the street surface from the 900 Block and done a partial removal of sidewalks. Businesses are still accessible with parking in designated parking lots on White Sands and 9th Street and by Playtime at 8th Street and New York Avenue.
