Alamogordo Public School District Alamogordo Public Schools is proud to announce the launch of Kindness Month, a district-wide initiative designed to foster a culture of kindness, compassion, and positivity. Throughout the month of February, students and staff will participate in daily kindness challenges, themed weekly activities, and special events that encourage the spread of goodwill in schools and the community.

A Month of Kindness in Action

Each week will feature a unique kindness theme, accompanied by daily challenges to inspire meaningful acts:

• Week 1 (Feb. 3-7): Do Something Kind – Encouraging students to perform simple but impactful acts of kindness.

• Week 2 (Feb. 10-14): Say Something Kind – Focusing on the power of words to uplift others. • Week 3 (Feb. 17-21): Be a Kindness Superhero – Motivating students to be upstanders and spread kindness.

• Week 4 (Feb. 24-28): Be Kind to Yourself – Highlighting the importance of self-care and personal well-being.

Random Acts of Kindness reminds us that we are all in this together. Life gets busy at any age, and we all need to take a minute to look around. Celebrating Kindness Month in the schools and in the community gives us the opportunity to pause and appreciate those around us. Kindness and compassion are free and invaluable. By incorporating this into our school culture, we are preventing bullying and making our schools safe, happy, and a fun place to be for everyone. This is my favorite time of the year ever since we started doing the kindness campaign. You can see the waves of kindness spread across our community. I hope everyone will join us in asking themselves, 'How can I show kindness today?’ said APS Health Services Director Lisa Patch.

Every Monday, schools will start the week with a kindness-themed morning announcement, reinforcing the importance of daily acts of kindness. Students, staff, and community members are encouraged to share their experiences and photos throughout the month.

Community-Wide Kindness Challenge The spirit of Kindness Month extends beyond the classroom, inviting local businesses, organizations, and families to participate. Community members can join in by completing the daily kindness challenges and spreading positivity in their workplaces and neighborhoods.

A highlight of the month is Chalk Your Walk Day on February 14th, where everyone is encouraged to decorate sidewalks with messages of hope, encouragement, and love. Schools will receive chalk buckets to help bring this vision to life. Community members can also take part by chalking their own driveways and storefronts. Please share your photos!

Flo’s Kindness Tour: Spreading Joy Across the District Adding to the excitement, Flo, APS Health Service's 40' mobile nurse's station, will bring a special celebration to every school in the district. Flo and the Health Services team will visit each campus, delivering notes of kindness, snacks, and friendship bracelets while playing uplifting music as students are dismissed from school.

Join Us in Making Kindness Contagious! Alamogordo Public Schools invites everyone to participate in Kindness Month and embrace the challenge of making kindness a daily habit. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positivity that extends far beyond February.

Share your acts of kindness and Chalk Your Walk artwork by emailing communications@alamogordoschools.org or posting on social media with the hashtag #AlamogordoKindnessChallenge.
